National telecom compute through GPU Merdeka, a serious vendor in NVIDIA, and a university with the credibility to attract researchers — that’s a reasonable stack. The failure mode I’d watch for is the one that kills most academic-industry partnerships: the corporate partners lose interest after year one, the hardware ages, and the “ecosystem” becomes a plaque on a wall.

The success mode is more interesting. If this center genuinely produces AI practitioners who understand both the technology and local context, Indonesia gets something no imported model can provide: people who can build for their own market.
